Hamilton Wins Championship

Last Sunday, Lewis Hamilton won the 2014 formula one world championship by winning the Abu Dhabi grand prix. His main rival, Nico Rosberg had problems with his car so he finished fourteenth. Rosberg was on pole and Hamilton second on the grid. When the race started, Hamilton made a Fernando Alonso style start and beat Rosberg to the first corner. A few laps later, Rosberg had problems with his car, which his team could not fix. The only time they were wheel to wheel was on the straight when Hamilton lapped him. Towards the end of the race, everyone was nervous. The team, his dad, even his girlfriend! Especially with Felipe Massa eating up his lead. But at the end it was done and the title was his. There is something funny about this race. All the action builds up to the race, but the race just happens. Like in 2011. I went to see this race and the driver I was routing for, Sebastian Vettel spun on the first lap! Nonetheless, a long overdue championship was finally earned for Hamilton. He is a truly great driver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All about the Yas Marina Circuit

Hi kids! This post will be about the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.   It is a 5.5 kilometer track with 21 turns.   Sebastian Vettel holds the lap record at 140:279.

The track was opened in 2009 and has a capacity of about 55,000 people.   It cost about $1.3 billion to build. It has  the longest straight in F1! It is about 1.3 kilometers in length! Most of the drivers liked the track, like Nico Rosberg. He said “The turns are unique”.    Adrian Sutil said “I think it is better than Singapore (the sports other night race) because at Singapore there is too much lighting.

Rosberg takes victory in Brazil

Last Sunday Nico Rosberg won the Brazilian Grand Prix, after a mistake from his teammate Lewis Hamilton.   The title will be decided in Abu Dhabi on the Yas Marina Circuit.   I used to live very close to Abu Dhabi in Dubai.   Rosberg had a good launch of the line and beat Hamilton to the first corner. He led for 6 laps only to be passed by him on the eighth.   Later, on lap 28 there was a bit of drama when Hamilton spun at turn 4.   “I ultimately think it cost me the win.’’   A post race quote from him.  The final race will be very exciting for everyone.   I hope it is a very good race. See you next Week!
